Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Backstory Daily website (this site) and Backstory Daily Publisher, a private tool that uploads Backstory Daily's own videos to the Backstory Daily YouTube channel. It is written for anyone who visits the site and for Google's review of the Publisher app.

The short version

This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics or ads, and collects no personal data.
Backstory Daily Publisher is used only by the channel's owner, only on the owner's own YouTube channel.
We never sell, share, or transfer Google user data, and never use it for advertising.

This website

The site is a set of static pages hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It has no forms, accounts, cookies, trackers, or analytics. Like any web host, Cloudflare may process basic request data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site; see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

Backstory Daily Publisher and YouTube API Services

Backstory Daily Publisher uses YouTube API Services. By using it you are also bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.

What it accesses

After the channel owner signs in with Google and grants consent, the app requests these permissions:

youtube.upload: to upload new videos to the owner's channel.
youtube: to set each video's title, description, tags, thumbnail, visibility and scheduled publish time, and to read the channel's basic details (channel name, ID and public counts) to confirm uploads go to the right channel.

How it uses that access

Only to publish and manage Backstory Daily's own videos on the owner's channel. The app does not read other users' data, comments, messages, watch history, or subscriber lists.

What it stores

The app stores one OAuth token, which is the permission Google issued, on the owner's own computer, in a file readable only by that user account. It also keeps a local log of uploads (date, video ID, visibility and title). Nothing is stored on any server we operate, and no other Google user data is kept.

Sharing

Google user data is not sold, rented, shared, or transferred to anyone, and is not used for advertising or to train AI models.

Limited Use

Backstory Daily Publisher's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention, revocation and deletion

The token is kept until access is revoked. Access can be revoked at any time from Google's security settings page; once revoked, the token stops working and is deleted from the owner's computer. To have any stored data deleted, email us at the address below and we will do so within 7 days.

Children

This site and app are not directed at children and collect no information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date.
